After 18 months of transformation, the Mission Beach town centre revitalisation project is nearly complete, with the final streetscape works now underway.\
The revitalisation project has significantly reshaped Porter Promenade and the beachfront precinct – opening clearer views to the foreshore, strengthening infrastructure for the future, and creating a safer, accessible, and more welcoming town centre for locals and visitors.
Final works underway and close to completion include footpath upgrades, landscaping, finalising awning roofing for shopfronts, street lighting, new street furniture including a new bus shelter, and the final fit-out of the new toilet block.
“This project will breathe life back into this iconic destination, unleash its tremendous tourism potential, and create opportunities for investment, economic growth, and prosperity,” said Mayor Teresa Millwood.
Councillor Trudy Tschui said the revitalisation project has aimed to transform the heart of Mission Beach, and she was confident the new-look town centre would strengthen community connection, support local businesses, and enhance Mission Beach’s unique character.
“Our ultimate goal is for Mission Beach to be accessible, vibrant, and welcoming to all, with a wonderful family-friendly environment that entices visitors and locals to linger longer.”
