Before you even reach Bowen and the tropical paradise that awaits, you’ll come across the first of many pet-friendly spots in town.
Right beside the iconic Big Mango, the Bowen Visitor Information Centre offers a designated pet area where dogs can stretch their legs and have a run, which is ideal after a long car ride. While your furry friend enjoys the space, you can see the Big Mango and chat with the friendly volunteers inside the information centre and maybe even pick up some delicious Bowen Mango Sorbet.
Bowen’s stunning beaches are another highlight, and the best part is that most of them are dog friendly. Whether you prefer a relaxed stroll along the sand or have a high-energy pup who loves to roam, there’s a beach for you. Off-leash areas include Queens Beach, Doughty Creek Mouth, Kings Beach, and Grays Bay, giving dogs the freedom to explore to their hearts’ content.
For those who love nature walks and parklands, Denison Park is a 24-hour off-leash park that offers tranquillity and scenic walking trails and a lovely spot to unwind and connect with nature. It’s also conveniently located near Bowen Foreshore, Flagstaff Hill Lookout, and Kings Beach.
After a day of adventure, your four-legged companion might be ready for a drink, and you’ll find plenty of cafés around town that welcome pets, often providing water bowls for thirsty travellers.
When it’s time to rest, Bowen’s pet-friendly hospitality continues. The majority of local caravan parks accept animals upon request, and several motels and hotels also offer pet-friendly rooms. Providing the perfect way to end the day with a well-earned night’s sleep for both you and your pet.
