The Iconic Cape Edgecumbe Trail

For a more immersive journey, the Cape Edgecumbe Walking Trail is an absolute must. This walk is Bowen’s most popular! It offers an enchanting escape for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

The trail starting from either Horseshoe Bay or Rose Bay offers a moderate stroll, the trail winds gracefully over a headland, offering varied terrain and ever-changing vistas that promise to captivate your senses at every turn.

If starting at Horseshoe Bay, the first stop is Rotary Lookout, it offers sweeping views of the curved beach and nearby islands. A short walk further leads to a historic World War II radar site, established in 1943, this strategic location played a vital role in air defence and aircraft navigation during the war.

The trail then descends to Murrays Bay, a secluded beach ideal for swimming, snorkelling, or exploring rock formations. Continuing towards Rose Bay, you’ll pass the striking Mother Beddock balancing rock and enjoy more stunning coastal views.
